We've all got a film that moves us to tears. Whether it's the 'kissing' scene from Cinema Paradiso, the 'goodbye' scene from ET, or the 'all of the underdogs are getting their day' scene from the musical Hairspray [editor's note - don't judge me!], a good ol' cry in the darkened safety of a movie-house is one of life's great cathartic exercises.

It's with this in mind that Geometry Argentina introduce us to the lovable automaton protagonist of Robot, the launch spot of their Going to the movies is good for us campaign for Cinemark y Hoyts. Following the mechanical chap as he lives his humdrum life, we see little humanity in his blank expression and stilted movements. That is, however, until he enters the movie theatre...

As Tony Waissmann, CCO of the agency, puts it: "This campaign gives me so much joy. It is a tremendous job between the client and the agency. Without one of the two parties, this work could not have been possible, and shows the confidence our client has in us.

"The movies are a magical place and we tried to make a piece that is more like a short film than an ad. We wanted to tell a story, but with a powerful insight that shows us an absolute reality. Every time I see the campaign I like it more and I hope that people like it just as much."

Lovingly created by Primo's Clan, and perfectly soundtracked by Judy Garland's rendition of Danny Boy, this enchanting short's cute insight and supreme level of craft (the shiny eyes of our robotic lovers providing an almost cartoon-like glint) make for a mini tear-jerker.
