Checking your phone while on the train? Fine. While navigating a busy pavement? Annoying, but sometimes inevitable. While pushing your kid's buggy across the road, driving a bus or operating heavy machinery? Unthinkable.

Or is it?

In this dystopian spot for Nissan, directed by MJZ's Tom Kuntz, TBWA\Chiat\Day New York imagines a hellish world in which everyone is glued to their screens and oblivious to everything else around them.

Thank goodness for the Nissan Rogue, then, whose safety features - like an emergency braking system that detects pedestrians and a blind spot warning - offer drivers 'protection in a world of distraction'. Although the ad is meant as a parody, it feels more like a depressing glimpse into the future.
