The Music Is Moving through the city

Directed by Kate Duhamel, The Music is Moving is full of impressionistic moments and bright, fun pops of graphic color and design.

As two dancers move rhythmically and erratically in and out of each other’s spaces, with silhouettes moving over cut-outs, pastel backgrounds, and a dizzying framework of streets and moods. The dancers echo across the screen, highlighted in simple colors against a faded black and white backdrop of San Francisco. The movements are exciting and evocative, and the entire piece is very beautifully edited.

Stitched together by Candy Bomber Productions, the ballet dancers seem to resonate on camera, becoming a part of the city that they dance in. They often appear to dance over cut-out papers, turning and folding them into different scenes, settings, and movements. The film is spontaneous and fun, creating a sense of excitement throughout the city. Even as onlookers stare and slowly move out of the way, they are still entranced by the way that the dancers take up space amid murals and bridges.
