Stressed about Christmas presents and what to give this year? Why not consider signing someone up as a Tiger Protector? Not only does it sound cool, but you also get to feel smug, knowing that you’re helping to repopulate the planet with tigers.

JWT has partnered with WWF UK to launch a new initiative which rewards contributors.

By donating as little as £5 a month, you can become a certified Tiger Protector and also receive a personalised children’s book written by Jeanne Willis with illustrations from Jenni Desmond. The book’s characters can be modified to reflect the reader’s name, gender, skin and hair colour.

What your Tiger Protector certificate could look like...

The reason for this initiative? To mark the fact that WWF is halfway through its Tx2 programme, which launched in 2010 with the aim of doubling the number of tigers in the wild before 2022, the next Chinese year of the tiger.

Wild tigers are increasing in volume however conservationists realise that initiatives that raise awareness are always useful.

Which is why JWT has also unveiled its #iProtectTigers campaign (below) with a CGI tiger from MPC that aired on TV last night.

“This advert acts as a stark reminder that although we may feel a million miles away from this issue, we can help,” says WWF-UK’s director of public funding, Kerry Blackstock. “We can make a difference.”
