Kokopelli Hostel Boosts Backpackers in Peru
Lanfranco & Cordova takes age-old natural medicine leaf and applies it to modern tourism business model.
The Peruvian city of Lima is a backpackers dream with a constant increase of tourists visiting the city each year. In line with the demand, the number of hostels also continues to grow making the tourism industry a competitive one and a need for businesses to stand out from the bunch.
Originally founded in Lima and recently opening its doors in the historic city of Cuzco, Kokopelli is a small expanding business and wanted to encourage its existing customers to stay with the chain if ever they travelled to its new city.
Tapping into the location of the new branch and the fact that it is situated over 11,000 ft above sea level, agency Lanfranco & Cordova created a unique caign and selling point for the company to attract local guests. Its anti-altitude business cards includes a coca leaf that releases energy when chewed and would prevent potential sickness when travelling around the local area.
The cards were given to Lima guests so that they could start chewing the leaf the moment they arrived in Cuzco, offering a pleasant experience for backpackers and tourists alike.
