Ubisoft Launches Nosulus Rift for Fart Detection
It’s all about Nosulus Rift and being able to smell genuinely stinky farts, ahead of South Park game launch.
We're no longer shocked by the powerful effect of an Oculus Rift VR headset.
But just as you were beginning to get comfortable with the speed at which tech develops, feeling like you’d mastered the art of modern technology, a new invention from Buzzman and Productman will have you questioning everything you've ever previously experienced.
To launch the new Ubisoft game, South Park TM: The Fractured But WholeTM, the team has created and is introduing Nosolus Rift to the market - a virtual reality mask that straps to your nostrils.
While many of us may think our shit don’t stink, releasing smelly farts is actually a superpower in this game and allows the hero to ward off his enemies.
Working with a group of industrial designers, engineers, noses and chemists, the team developed a way for realistic fart smells to be transmitted through the mask so they could be smelt by gamers. For more information, watch the case study video above to make your minds up as to whether it's something you'd want to give a go.
And if it is, the game demo will be touring the US and Europe at various gaming events, so gamers can experience the toxic gas smell themselves ahead of the game’s launch on December 6.
Look out for shots’ tech-special issue #166 for an interview with scent expert Lizzie Ostrom for more insight on the product and what it could mean for the future of the tech and scent industries.
