B-Reel Behind City Murals for Netflix Series

Can’t wait until the next season of Orange Is The New Black? Although you don’t have to wait long, we understand that even June 9 can feel like a million years away.

To rally support for the upcoming fifth season of the Netflix show, B-Reel created a series of murals of the show’s most popular character, Poussey Washington who passed away last series.

Serving as a tribute to her death, artists who are also fans of the show were asked to paint Poussey’s portrait in eight iconic cities around the world.

So if you’re living in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Melbourne, Sydney, Chicago, Detroit or San Francisco, keep your eye to the sky in case you walk past one of her colourful portraits.

While the campaign promotes the next series, the mesmerizing hand-painted murals also act as tribute to victims of street violence – (spoiler alert!) given that the black fictional inmate dies after she is accidentally suffocated by a corrections officer. Which is why each poster bears the words Stand Up, as a reminder to stand against violence.
