A Day In The Life Of Karlijn Paardekooper
Karlijn Paardekooper, EP at CZAR Amsterdam & expert in child and director rearing, shows us bikes, barges & beer.
07.00: A sort of selfie with my two kids. Life lesson: if you know how to take care of a director, you know how to take care of a kid.
09.00: In front of our office, which used to be a church. So you can imagine the celestial inspiration I get all day. Commuting during the day is mostly done with a bike. I’m heading off to one of the sets we’re shooting today, accompanied by my colleague Jeroen. He’s the one with the crate on his bike, in case you wondered.
10.00: On the set of one of our shoots today, with our director Giancarlo and DOP Thijmen. I do think the beers on table are props. At least, I hope so. The location is a typical Amsterdam frat house. So you can imagine I felt right at home.
14.00: Next stop is another shoot we’re having today. The Golden (production) Girls, hanging in a truck. Normally, Clariet and Wies are more productive…
16.00: Willem is my Executive Producer partner in crime. We’re going over some set designs for a future project.
17.00: A meeting at one of Amsterdam’s international ad agencies, Anomaly. Amsterdam is famous for its buzzing ad scene, and right here we’re having a creative session where some of our directors (Ben Strebel and Billy Pols) talk over their work, having a discussion with creatives. In my opinion, this exchange of creativity is very important in our business. Oh, and beers. Beers are important as well.
