Ever bought something from IKEA, only to later realise you’d confused your measurements and that that armchair/sofa/table doesn’t fit in your room/corner/through that door? Frustrating isn’t it?

72andSunny has partnered with AR app developers TWNKLS and innovation lab Space10 to unveil a brilliant AR app that allows you to avoid these sorts of purchases in future by accurately imagining how these pieces will fit in your home.

Built using Apple’s new ARKit technology, IKEA Place launched during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

Too good to be true? Follow these idiot-proof steps on how to use IKEA Place:

Make sure you have the latest iOS 11 system installed on your phone;

Download the app here;

Scan the space in which you wish to put the product;

Browse the app, which contains a database of over 2,000 items – currently made up of larger furniture pieces;

Select something;

The app will calculate whether said item fits into the designated area;

Et voila! IKEA Place will project the item into the room and you can move it around as you like;

The app is 98% accurate so it should help to dispel any shopping qualms, hopefully making the purchase process much simpler and less stressful.

“IKEA Place makes it easier to make buying decisions in your own place, to get inspired and try many different products, styles, and colours in real-life settings with a swipe of your finger,” says Michael Valdsgaard, Leader Digital Transformation at Inter IKEA Systems. “Augmented reality and virtual reality will be a total game changer for retail in the same way as the internet. Only this time, much faster,”

It officially came out globally yesterday – so get downloading. You won’t regret it!
