Wieden&Kennedy Re-edit Christmas Ad After Unexpected Snowfall
It rarely snows at Christmas in the UK, which is why W&K used it as ad inspiration for TK Maxx. But the snow at the weekend called for the previous ad to be revised & a new ad to be rolled out.
Although many of us dream of a white Christmas, it’s not often that we’re granted this wintry wish – which explains Wieden+Kennedy’s thinking in their seasonal spot for retailer TK Maxx.
The agency rewarded the Markham family with real snow this Christmas, after they won the store’s Treasure Loyalty scheme prize draw, rolled out and inspired by the brand’s Christmas ad this year.
Eight metres of real snow were dropped into their garden to create the perfect winter wonderland spectacle, so that they could enjoy snow angels and snowball fights ahead of Christmas – and particularly surprise their six-year-old daughter Lena, who had never seen snow before.
However it seems nature had the last laugh as this weekend, the UK was engulfed in snow, bringing the Christmas spirit to many more British families, beyond the Markhams.
Which is why Wieden&Kennedy re-released a new version of their Christmas ad (below) to make it topical and reflect the UK’s recent snowfall. Which is also voiced by Bill Nighy, like the original.
Quick thinking Wieden&Kennedy!
