Embrace Your Inner Kid With a Ride in Uber's Toy Cars
This new campaign out of DDB Paris transports you straight back to childhood by letting you ride in a supersized toy farm truck or remote-controlled car.
Uber is appealing to kids both big and small this Christmas with an experiential campaign that sees vehicles inspired by toy cars roving the streets of Paris.
Forget the dependable-but-boring Toyota Prius that generally turns up when you book a car on the ride-sharing app, the UberToys initiative could see you travelling across town in an outsized farm truck, a remote-controlled saloon, or a car made out of colourful modelling clay.
DDB Paris came up with the Christmas initiative, which is running from 10am to 6pm, 11-13 December in the French capital, with six different toy-catalogue options available. Best of all, rides in the toy cars are offered free of charge.
"Christmas is a time when a lot of brands talk about magic," says Alexander Kalchev, executive creative director at DDB Paris. "With UberToys we will bring it back to the streets."
If you're based in Paris and fancy being whisked back to childhood, simply follow these steps:
- Download the Uber app and sign in using your login details or create an account in a few clicks.
- Select the UberToys option (there's a little logo and everything!). Click on “Order an UberToys ride” and one of six UberToys cars will come to collect you from your designated location.
- The driver in the ordered car will contact you to specify the number of seats if need be and the minimum age (4 or 6 years).
And if you can't get yourself to the City of Lights over the next two days, don't despair - UberToys are also set to pop up in Vienna and Zurich over the coming months.
