Specialising in visually strong, nuanced comedy performance work, Fiona McGee captures insightful and sometimes awkward moments that bring out the humour in everyday situations.

From a cast of massively hungover characters in McDonald's The Day After, enduring the ‘morning-after' shame of New Year’s Day to the rug pull moment in Colorsteel For a Home You Can Be Proud Of where we witness a relationship becoming unstuck when some things turn out not to be what they seemed.

There aren't many directors who can tackle brands that range from Speight's Beer to Libra, with McDonald's, Hyundai and Colorsteel in-between. Fiona’s addition to BOLD’s roster of visually savvy and comedic directors complements rather than competes with their carefully curated talent.

Fiona has fought hard to establish herself amongst the best of the commercials directing talent in Australia and New Zealand, which is a huge achievement in a market where 92% of the directors are male. She also succeeded in breaking through the stereotypical mould to tackle beer, cars and sports.

Her success in doing just that speaks volumes for her tenacity but also her talent which is there to see in the awarded work on her reel including ING’s spoof brand ambassador campaign fronted by Isla Fisher which Fiona has directed for the last 4 years.
