Camp Lucky launches The Volume at Camp Lucky
The Volume at Camp Lucky expands the creative landscape with virtual production.
Camp Lucky launch The Volume at Camp Lucky for virtual productions with agencies and brands powered by the company’s production and post expertise. To bring this innovation to clients, Camp Lucky partnered with Jason Starne, the studio's new Director of Virtual Production.
The Volume is an XR stage of LED panels stacked to create a ‘wall’ presenting as a single giant screen. The wall, or Volume, displays computer-generated photoreal environments that work in combination with actors, sets, props and lighting creating a seamless in-camera scene. With ICVFX (in-camera visual effects) final pixel is achieved with realistic lighting and reflections that are otherwise impossible through traditional green screen productions. The Volume is part of Camp Lucky’s studio where directing, editing, VFX and audio talent come together to work with clients and develop engaging projects. The Volume stage also features casting and wardrobe offices, a full service kitchen, client lounges, and integration with the company’s artist suites.
“In addition to bringing XR to this market, we are uniquely positioned as a creative collaborator in this innovative space – providing talent and experts who work fluently in virtual production,” says Camp Lucky EP Brandon Tapp. “From Jason Starne and Tim Nagle, to our multifaceted directors and artists, we are partners from concept through delivery and The Volume is an exciting creative approach and solution for clients.”
“The Volume is an extension to the already existing creative palette that Camp Lucky offers," Jason Starne agrees. “Virtual productions allow for things like endless magic hour and or filming in multiple locations that would otherwise be impossible to achieve in a single shoot day, and many other opportunities including the ability to unite concepts together with production and post teams.”
Starne is involved in all collaborations with The Volume at Camp Lucky, working closely with the studio’s directing talent, producing team, and post artists for seamless workflows and collaborations. Starne is a media technologist with over 25 years of experience who unites creative ideation with technical innovation for The Volume at Camp Lucky. His precise knowledge of media workflows has established him as a leader in the industry having worked with Disney, Warner Media, Tyler Perry Studios, and NASA.
“Jason and I have worked together in varying capacities over 20 years,” says Tim Nagle, Camp Lucky Partner. “Knowing Jason’s history and passion it was clear he was the right person to partner with on this new venture. It combines so many of the skillsets he already possesses we knew we could build something special together.”
