Avoiding horror in favor of grounded nostalgia, LX has created a film that plays like a fable.
Paro(noia) feels normal, a regular night, an average group of friends. Then, slowly, everyday (or night) situations take on a sinister tone. The pacing of this film is slow but deliberate, delivering a promo that feels ominous without leaning into obvious tropes. There are echoes of doppelgangers, people being watched, perhaps even being followed.
DC’s storytelling raps over the muted tones of colorist Chris Bell’s work feel imminent. This could be your street. This could be you. Greatcoat Films produced, Sam Hardy did the edit and VFX work. Yvonne Newman makes an appearance as DC’s mother.
