Rich with valuable heirlooms and local lore, Irish pubs aren't only important to the communities they serve, they're also globally recognised cultural icons. 

To help preserve their heritage, beer brand Heineken, alongside creative agency Le Pub and Publicis Dublin, has launched this innovative campaign to turn pubs into virtual Pub Museums

By scanning a QR code placed on the outside plaque, customers are transported into a virtual experience, discovering the history of each venue as an augmented reality overlay tells its stories and local legends.  

Each artefact was left untouched, instead being turned into a digital 3D object recognisable at 360° through tracking, built with the use of photogrammetry. Heineken is now exploring how these pubs can apply for official museum accreditation via a national accreditation program in a bid to have them formally recognised as museums.
