What’s the best promo you’ve seen recently and why?

I would have to say Beardyman ft Joe Rogan - 6am (Ready To Write) directed by Ian Pons Jewell, I just love how mad it is, it just pushed the boundaries in every way.

It gave me the same feeling when I watched the Aphex Twin videos back in the day.

What’s the first promo you remember being impressed by?

Björk - All is Full of Love, this video made me appreciate music videos that don’t have to be your traditional performance videos, and that you can tell a concept/narrative in metaphors.

And what’s your all-time favourite music video?

Easily Gesaffelstein - Hate or Glory, watching this video made me feel like I just found the wardrobe to Narnia, the rawness and surrealness of it opened up my imagination and made me realise the kind of videos I want to make.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspiration?

I’m actually more drawn to painters for inspiration, I've been obsessed with Salvador Dali since I was 15, and I love the blend of dream and reality in his work.

What are you listening to at the moment?

A bit of everything really but I have Jay Electronica's new album A Written Testimony playing as I’m writing my answers.

What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?

My Powerbeats pro, I listen to music every second of the day. And my Contax T3 I take it with me everywhere I go just in case I come across someone I want to get a portrait of or capture something I find interesting on the street.

What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?

With no hesitation Kendrick Lamar, I would actually say he is my other inspiration. As a person who continues to stay true to himself and deliver perfection from his music to his live performances and his music videos.

How do you feel the promo industry has changed since you started in it?

I think the industry as a whole is allowing more creative and experimental concepts into the mix, and directors are not afraid to keep pushing the boundaries despite lower budgets and faster turnaround times.

The growth of the internet/social media has allowed these videos to travel far and connect with people from around the world.

Where do you see the music video industry being in five years’ time?

I think it will continue to evolve visually and directors will take more risks with things they want to experiment with but I do hope more people of colour and women are given the opportunity to show their voices.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…

I’m obsessed with the universe; I’ve seen every single documentary on space.
