In two new spots created by AOR Arnold for Progressive, Dr. Rick continues his journey to help young people through their ‘Parentamorphosis’ affliction, aka turning into their parents after they’ve bought their first home.

Dr. Rick is once again helping first-time homeowners navigate painfully relatable truths in Firepit and Neighborhood MayorFirepit: Nothing signals you’re turning into your parents more than backseat-driving someone building a fire. Neighborhood Mayor: Do you know who is obsessed with the neighborhood? Your parents.

The humorous spots end with the voiceover: “Progressive can’t save you from becoming your parents, but we can save you money when you bundle home and auto with us.”

“I cannot relate to any of the executions from our Dr. Rick campaign, but I especially cannot relate to this most recent round of work,” said Sean McBride, Chief Creative Officer at Arnold.

"I have never once obsessed about the unfamiliar car in my neighbour’s driveway, and I am definitely not looking out my window wondering whose car is parked pretty close to the mouth of my driveway as I type this. Nor did I struggle to build a fire over this most recent holiday break while several members of my extended family watched, occasionally sharing wisdom about proper airflow and the relative flammability of pine versus oak. So, yeah, hopefully some folks out there will relate to this work, but I definitely cannot.”

The commercials started airing nationally on broadcast TV, on 30th December. The highly lauded Dr. Rick campaign has previously addressed topics related to Weather, Hosting, and Hoarding.
