Radar Awards Winners Announced
Directors from the UK, USA, Germany, Croatia, Ireland, Iceland and Denmark gather at London's YouTube headquarters for the first ever Radar Awards!
On Thursday 14th July, directors and industry guests came from across the UK and the USA, Germany, Croatia, Ireland, Iceland and Denmark to attend the first-ever Radar Awards (the first award show from the ever-splendid Radar Music Video) at the exclusive YouTube Space, London. Celebrating the best in new talent across the music and music video industries, the event was sponsored by Vevo and Marshall Amplifiers and presented by Yasmin Evans. With over 700 entries and with almost half of the shortlisted videos having under 25k views, the awards truly celebrated the best in new, up & coming talent worldwide.
Guests were escorted to the YouTube Space to be welcomed with drinks. Directors were soon whisked away, each to be awarded a ‘shortlisted’ prize, ranging from free film & video education courses, to free submissions to music video festivals worldwide, to free software packages. Shortly after, presenter Yasmin Evans hosted the main Awards and winners were announced to an audience of leading commissioners, commercial production companies and specialist media.
"The Radar Awards were a blast! The awards connected talented new filmmakers from across the world (USA, Canada, Ireland, Croatia, Berlin, France, Iceland, Norway), with experienced and influential industry tastemakers and all was good. A great venue (thanks YouTube!), plus great prizes (thanks Vevo, Marshall & all!), plus drinks all made for a great party and a lot of happy people." Caroline Bottomley, Company Director, Radar Music Videos.
Overall winners received a valuable promo slate with music video specialist streaming platform Vevo, mentorships with leading production companies, and valuable equipment and software worth thousands.
Following the official event, directors and industry guests flooded out across the venue and engaged in busy networking, before continuing to the ‘after-after party’ at Alley Cat.
