Boutique content production company Reform School announce the addition of two new directing teams: comedy directing duo Amy+Pilar (Amy York Rubin & Pilar Boehm) and award-winning, bilingual director Jose Antonio Prat.

Amy+Pilar is a Los Angeles-based comedy directing duo known for their sharp wit, impeccable comedic timing, and undeniable chemistry. Partners in both life and art, their synchronicity is evident in their impressive body of work across TV, film, and commercials.

Rubin has directed high-profile comedy sketches featuring stars like Amy Schumer, Kate McKinnon, and Sarah Silverman. She has also helmed episodes of popular series such as Fresh Off The Boat, Casual, Superstore, Angie Tribeca, and directed the pilot for the hit Netflix comedy Dead To Me.

Before joining forces with Rubin behind the camera, Boehm was a psychotherapist, a background that informs her ability to create fascinating characters and stage irresistible, nuanced performances. Rubin and Boehm's shared passion for comedy brought them together. Their collaboration began with a Synchrony Bank campaign, starring cult-comedy legend Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics), and they went on to direct the pilot of the beloved Hulu series Love, Victor.

Their commercial work includes spots for Uber’s Go-Get campaign and Shift, starring Martin Starr. With a unique blend of humour, heart, and style, Amy+Pilar continue to push the boundaries of comedy storytelling.

“We have been fans of Amy and Pilar for a long time," said Ryan Ennis, Executive Director at Reform School. "They excel at capturing comedic performances and dialogue. Coming from the TV and LA comedy scenes, they've built a strong followin and collaborated with some of our favourite funny people. Everyone at Reform School is excited to support them as they expand their creative reach further into commercials and social content."

Jose Antonio Prat is renowned for his comedic, character-driven content that blends cinematic visuals, impeccable timing, and bursts of the absurd. Drawing on his diverse cultural background, Prat's work showcases a unique storytelling style that is both authentic and unpredictable.

Born in Mexico City and now based in New York, Prat is a native speaker of both English and Spanish. His multicultural and multilingual perspective allows him to seamlessly direct in multiple languages, including Italian and French, bringing a global sensibility to his comedy and dialogue-driven spots. Jose’s directing work has earned him an Emmy and awards from AICP, Cannes Lions, The One Show, and D&AD.

“Jose’s work is rich in character and infused with humour and cinematic style,” adds Ryan Ennis. “He has an abundance of funny ideas and is very detailed as a director. He can create fascinating scenes and characters that get stuck in your head. We’re thrilled to work with Jose and help bring his unique vision to life.”
