The third edition of Videoclip Italia Awards will take place on June 2 in Rome, an annual event created by Videoclip Italia to reward all professional categories involved in Italy in the production of music videos, from direction to color grading, from special effects to makeup, as well as some collateral awards, for a total of 22 recognitions.

To date, Videoclip Italia Awards is the main event dedicated to celebrating this art form and networking for workers in the related industry.

In recent months, over 230 music videos produced in 2023 have been entered into the competition and submitted to the judgment of the international jury, consisting of over 70 industry personalities, including Polly Millner, Dasha Deriagina, Gregory Ohrel, David W. Findlay, Callum Harrison, Michal Babinec, and Isaac Eastgate, along with Italian excellences such as Giorgio Testi, Virgilio Villoresi, and Luca Lumaca, cinematographer Daria D’Antonio, colorist Emiliano Serantoni, animators Michele Bernardi and Emanuele Kabu, and two winners of the first two editions of VIA, directors Angelo Cerisara and Giada Bossi. As a result, five finalists have been selected for each category.

Among the works most appreciated by the jury, we find Bruciasse il cielo, directed by Simone Peluso for Blanco, and Gossip by Måneskin feat. Tom Morello, directed by Tommaso Ottomano: both music videos have received four nominations. Following with three nominations each are A Pochi Passi by Chiello and Radio Mayday by Lucio Corsi (both directed by Tommaso Ottomano), along with Mare di Guai by Ariete (directed by Enea Colombi and winner of UKMVA’s Best Pop Newcomer category last year), Landslide by Hēir (directed by Salvatore Rocco), Guardami! - MANGO by Vipra (directed by Barbara Martire), and Tutto Con Te by Olly (directed by Amedeo Zancanella, but present in craft categories).

Competing for the Director of the Year award are Tommaso Ottomano (who already won the same award in 2023), Enea Colombi and Simone Peluso (both previously awarded as Director of the Year under 25 in 2022 and 2023 respectively), along with Francesco Lorusso (Broga’s) and Martina Pastori, nominated for the first time in this category.

Regarding production companies, Borotalco leads with a total of 17 nominations, followed by Illmatic with seven, and an additional three nominations for a jointly produced video. Maestro and Think Cattleya also stand out (collectively boasting eight nominations), as well as d’Aria, which, thanks to the work of Tommaso Ottomano, has garnered seven nominations.

In the category dedicated to International Music Videos, the spotlight shines on the distinctive contributions from CANADA, boasting two nominees in the category. Travis Scott's self-directed piece, Sirens, shares the stage with Skipping Like A Stone, by the Spanish duo Pensacola for The Chemical Brothers. These captivating works will vie for top honours against formidable contenders, including The Blaze's self-directed Madly, Andrew De Zen's evocative Of Woods and of Seas for Alaskan Tapes, and the poignant Locket directed by the late Valentin Petit, whose untimely departure last year left an indelible void in the industry.

For the artistic directors of Videoclip Italia Awards, Alessio Rosa and Nicola Marceddu, "The high quality of the finalist videos testifies to the creative energy and vitality of the sector, despite industry insiders acknowledging a productive downturn in 2023. The shortlist of this edition features both established names in the music video scene vying for awards alongside emerging talents ready to make their mark. Italian and foreign professionals on the expert jury voted enthusiastically, and although their challenging task inevitably led to the exclusion of several worthy works from the final selections, we find that this edition's shortlist is a tribute to the diversity, innovation, and hard work of all those who contribute to the Italian music video community. We look forward to gathering on June 2nd to experience together the third edition of Videoclip Italia Awards, which as always will be above all a celebration, the finest this industry deserves."

The awards ceremony will once again take place in the capital, on June 2 at the Largo Venue, where starting from 6 pm, some of the leading industry professionals will discuss the production and distribution dynamics of their works in two different panels. The detailed program of the evening (including a networking aperitif and an after-party) will be announced shortly.

The event, entirely free (upon reservation), is supported by FIMI and Anica (the Italian equivalent of MIA and BFI respectively), and sponsored by Trans Audio Video (Main Sponsor), Sony, Hollyland, Atomos, Kodak, and Panalight.
