The Insurance Education Alliance’s initiative Who Should Pay? has launched this urgent and honest short film highlighting the financial and emotional toll of extreme weather and soaring insurance costs on everyday homeowners.
Directed by Dior Rodriguez through UNDERHILL, Open Letters uses a strikingly simple documentary approach to capture the raw reactions of people as they confront the reality of being priced out of coverage, as a direct result of the climate crisis.
Shot largely in a single location, the film uses natural light and muted colour palettes to create quiet, cinematic vignettes that allow the subjects’ voices and emotions to remain front and centre.
