The Young Director Award will hold its first film screening in Tokyo on May 1st, 2024. 

Some of the most memorable YDA-winning films from recent years will be showcased in the cozy Tokyo cinema, Euro Live, in the fashionable Shibuya neighbourhood. 

"We are particularly keen to discover and recognise emerging directors from all over the world, celebrating their unique cultural perspectives on life."

The event aims to showcase a curated selection of award-winning films by young and talented directors who have garnered recognition from the elite international jury for their exceptional work.

The goal of the event is to inspire and motivate up-and-coming young filmmakers to pursue their dreams, as well as to create an exciting evening for cinema lovers. The handpicked program will feature an eclectic mix of works spanning various genres, including captivating short films and groundbreaking commercials. "Over the years, the Young Director Award has evolved into a truly global award," said Francois Chilot, the Founder and President of YDA, "with our esteemed jury members coming from every part of the globe.

"[The YDA] not only nurtures a new generation of directors, but also informs and inspires young Japanese directors about potential opportunities."

The film screening will be followed by a vibrant afterparty, providing many opportunities to network and connect with peers.
