Today sees the launch of a new campaign that celebrates the cultural impact of UK newspapers The Times and The Sunday Times. Created by agency Grey London, production company Betsy Works and the newspapers' archive, editorial and marketing teams, the campaign takes the form of a collection of short films called The Unquiet Film Series.
The first four films are released today with a selection of others arriving over the coming months. The creative teams approached a diverse pool of filmmakers to create a number of individual short films to celebrate the historical and cultural impact of the titles with the resulting works being interesting, intelligent and emotive pieces of content.
The films are, say the team, the first time that The Times and The Sunday Times, established in 1785 and 1822 respectively, have committed their stories to film and they explore the values, beliefs and behaviours of editors, writers and readers, both past and present.
The four initial films are;
Power of Words, directed by Liz Unna [shown at the top of the page]
Question Everything, directed by Will Clark
Photojournalism, directed by Simon George
Times New Roman, directed by Steven Qua

“Some of the best independent directors were given unique access to The Times and The Sunday Times and an open brief to try and capture the essence of the titles in film," explains Phil Lind, creative director of The Unquiet Film Series. "The results are as varied in scope and style as they are in time and geography, but when you put them together as a series, a common theme emerges – a drive to tell stories with substance. A virtue that is as relevant today as it has ever been.”
