JWT New York and Northwell Health have joined together to create The Fin, a 3D printed prosthetic leg suitable for land and swimming.

As detailed in a six minute documentary short, directed by Tom Mishra, the agency and health brand worked with Dan Lasko, a 33-year-old ex-Marine and veteran of Afghanistan. After losing a leg in the conflict, he says the one thing he misses is being able to swim with his kids. This is difficult with his current prosthetic - his current prosthetic had little functionality in water, and strapping it on and off was hugely time consuming.

This is where JWT and Northwell came in. Using a 3D printer, they created a new prosthetic with a fin-like area inspired by wales, and holes to ensure it remains hydrodynamic.

The agency, who chronicled the process and are creating content around it, see their work on this as a representation of their role in the creative process. As their ECD Ben James put it, 'we want to identify innovative ideas and bring them to a marketable state for our clients.'
