Breastfeeding in public has been disputed many times, however there’s still a lot of stigma that surrounds how and when mums should feed their children. WONGDOODY and non-profit group, MomsRising weigh into the debate with the launch of their #IPumpedHere initiative.

The campaign aims to expose the often unhygienic and cramped conditions in which mothers put up with when breastfeeding, revealing how they have to disguise their actions… particularly in the workplace.

Even Chelsea Clinton has had troubles accessing proper pumping facilities, with her testament featured in the case study video (above), “I was in a backstage bathroom, grateful to my husband for literally manning the door.”

#IPumpedHere asks mothers to share where they’ve pumped by taking photos of the site, tagging them with the #IPumpedHere hashtag and uploading them to social media.

WONGDOODY hopes that the campaign will encourage employees to create pumping stations at work so that mothers can breastfeed in a clean and safe place, and not feel ashamed of feeding.

“This issue impacts women from all walks of life, in all types of jobs, and employers and lawmakers alike must go farther in order to truly protect the needs of breastfeeding working moms,” says WONGDOODY MD Skyler Mattson. “With the Affordable Care Act in a state of uncertainty, now is the time to shine light on this issue and make sure women are protected in the future.”
