Eric Quennoy's Dutch Cannes Predictions
W+K Amsterdam's ECD reckons School For Justice & Desperados' Bass Drop are among the Netherlands' best work.
Johnnie Walker Ode to Lesvos
This wonderful piece of branded content from Anomaly shines a light on a small community in the Greek islands who come together to help hundreds of refugees. These people are heroes, and this important, powerful story is beautifully told.
Desperados Bass Drop
When partying on Earth gets a little boring, you can always load up a plane with tequila-infused beer and party at zero gravity. That’s what Desperados and WE ARE Pi did and it’s something I’d desperately like to do myself.
Free a Girl Movement The School for Justice
More than a just an ad campaign, JWT Amsterdam’s idea of setting up a school that aims to educate girls rescued from child prostitution to become lawyers and public prosecutors, so that they can one day have the power to prosecute the men that once owned them, is brilliant. I really hope it gets an Effectiveness Grand Prix in five years’ time.
Nike What Are Girls Made Of?
I’m proud of W+K Amsterdam's Nike Russia piece, which challenges the subtle but outdated notion of gender roles by highlighting some of the most badass athletes in Russia. Amazing direction from David Wilson, and a genius performance from the young lead actress.
