Human trafficking is as a lucrative criminal industry and the numbers of girls and women who are forced into sex work is increasing.
These women have no real chance to speak up about their situation so a non-governmental organisation called NEWLIVES, along with nine other European organisations that work against trafficking, have joined forces to give the women a voice.
These 10 charitable companies, along with production company U Itch I Scratch, launched the short film Voiceless Women [above] last week, on the annual Anti-Trafficking Day of October 18. The film aims to create awareness of the victims of sex trafficking and to support the organisations who helps these women.
With the internet providing access to huge closed forums and communities where thousands of horrifying reviews of sex workers are shared and used as a shopping directory, NEWLIVES' aim is to ignite a debate about the male sense of entitlement to degrade and objectify female sex workers.
The hard-hitting film, which was conceived and directed byand Mette Carla Albrechtsen, uses actual client reviews to expose a cruel and dehumanising culture where female sex workers are treated as nothing more than worthless commodities.
The campaign's rallying cry is #GiveHerAVoice, and Voiceless Women's goal is to expose the fact that clients are either unaware of or blatently ignoring that they are essentially engaging in and supporting slavery and contributing to dehumanising women in general.
