Production company FAMILIA has announced the signing of London-based director Sheena Brobbey to join their UK, US & Netherlands roster. 

The Ghanian-British filmmaker began her career in advertising as an Art Director for the likes of Conde Nast, YouTube and Estee Lauder before finding herself gravitating towards the director’s chair.

Describing herself as a visual artist first and a narrative director second, her work focusses on stories that bring warm and imaginative energy into the world of commercial campaigns, branded content, music videos and beyond.

The core of Brobbey’s work lies in fashion and beauty with youth culture sensibilities, and she has a passion for addressing urgent themes such as racial bias within healthcare, and stories of the resilience of of West London’s Caribbean communities that she feels shows her storytelling at its best. “I love how close and tight knit the FAMILIA team are," says Brobbey. "We built a relationship as fellow creatives first, which for me is key. This definitely feels like a step in the right direction and I’m really looking forward to refining my voice with FAMILIA as a director.”
