Louisa Connolly-Burnham joins Mad Cow Films
Sister Wives Director Louisa Connolly-Burnham signs with Mad Cow Films.
Louisa Connolly-Burnham is an award-winning director, actress and screenwriter based in London, originally hailing from Birmingham.
Known for her compelling narratives and exceptional performances, Connolly-Burnham is drawn to stories that champion women, promote equality, body positivity and that push for social justice.
After smashing the festival circuit in 2024 with her latest short film Sister Wives, Connolly-Burnham has signed exclusively with Mad Cow Films.
The film was longlisted for The Oscar's, BAFTA's and BIFA's after taking home The Grand Prix and ‘Best Director’ win at the Kinsale Shark Awards this year. Sister Wives ranked as the 3rd highest rated short film in the world on Letterboxd’s ‘Year In Review’ and won ‘Best Director’ at The British Short Film Awards and HollyShorts London Film Festival. It also won the Iris Prize for Best British Film, has been acquired by Film4 and is currently streaming on Channel4.
"I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the incredible roster at Mad Cow Films. Their passion for bold, innovative storytelling aligns perfectly with my own, and I can’t wait to collaborate with such a visionary team. This next chapter as a director with Mad Cow is an exciting opportunity to push creative boundaries and bring compelling stories to life" says Connolly-Burnham.
In 2019 she made her directorial debut with The Call Centre, which was nominated for ‘Best International Film’ at the Oscar-qualifying Foyle Film Festival. The narrative follows a woman frustrated with the mundanity of her life, looking for connection and discovering the dangers of a surprising relationship. The film explores desire, desperation and violence in a provocative and powerful way, it currently has two million+ views on Omeleto making it one of the most successful films on the platform to date.
Her second film The Track was met with the same esteem. Based on a true story, the film tackles the ever-growing issue of homelessness in the UK and shows her unabashed attitude to confronting real problems with dignity.
The move comes as part of a wider effort by Mad Cow Films and their creative studio, Milk Machine, to bridge the gap between the worlds of commercial and narrative content.
Daisy Thomson, Head of New Business says: “We're so excited to be representing a talent such as Louisa, she's established herself as one of the most exciting voices in the narrative arena and I can't wait to see what she'll do in the commercial world"
When she isn’t directing, she’s often found singing in her band ‘Virens’, collecting thimbles or back in her Dad’s pub in Oxfordshire.
