Hate-motivated attacks against Jews and Muslims are at an all-time high.

There have been countless incidents of both verbal and physical assaults in public, creating fear across communities worldwide. The US government has even advised citizens to hide their identities in public for safety. It’s a crazy and scary situation.

Reform School wanted to discuss this difficult issue in a way that would resonate, without preaching. So they decided to use biting comedy.

Reform School created a mock TV Shopping Network and imagined what they might sell if antisemitism and Islamophobia continued to become normalised in our society. Some of the products include:

Undercover Yarmulke: A yarmulke with a hair-covered top to help hide your Judaism in public and keep you safe.

Hijab-Cam: A hijab with a built-in security camera for protection after growing incidents of hijabs being ripped off in public.

Menorah-or-not?: A Menorah obscured by “a non-triggering” Christmas tree, positioned to face your window and neighbours, for those hesitant to display a Menorah during the holidays.

When Deanna Director and Evan Silver first pitched this project to major TV networks, they loved the concept, but were too scared to move forward with it. After sitting on it for a year, watching the situation get worse, Reform School decided to fund and produce it themselves. Every single crew member and talent involved donated their time and skills to make this happen because they believed in its message.

Reform School are rolling out the main long-form video (about two minutes) along with shorter “faux product” cutdowns tailored for social platforms. To spark buzz, Reform School created TikTok and Instagram videos styled as user-generated content, showing the product being “found” in real stores and “discovered” on TV.
