In this 15-minute interview we chat to director Sarah Clift about her brilliant, funny and slightly odd short film, The Birth of Valerie Venus.

The film, a trailer for which you can see below, follows vicar's wife Valerie, who is possessed by a strange force which unleashes a mischievous side she never knew she had.

Clift has previously won at the YDA for her short film The Good Mother, and also picked up a Silver Screen in the Dream Pitch category, where writers and directors pitch an as-yet-unmade idea to the jury. Here she discusses how she found an actor who could play the character of Valerie but who could also separate her right hand to act as the separate, mischievous character; why's she's interested in real behaviour and real human feeling, and why she went from shooting a short film in Spanish to going 'very English' with Valerie
