In the first of a series of video interviews in which we talk to the Gold Screen winners of this year's Young Director Award, Jeremy Merrifield opens up about the process of making his film, Balloon [below].

The super-hero inflected story about a young boy dealing with the issues of adolescence and the impact of hyper-masculinity won both a Gold Screen in the Film School (Six minutes and over) category, as well as the coveted Special Jury Prize.

In this 15 minute chat, Merrifield, who is signed to Great Guns for global representation, talks about his background in acting, the inspiration for the story and his hopes for the future of Balloon.
