Don't get us wrong, at no point do we consider Monocle's latest short-form endeavour a gritty slice-of-life documentary.

In fact, far from grit, A Different View with Adrien Sauvage, the magazine's collaboration with the Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau, exudes silky smoothness from the offset, be it Sauvage's interesting commentary or the film's elegant shooting style.

Director Helena Kardova captures the formerly London-based fashion designer as he goes about his delightfully opulent lifestyle, all the while reflecting on his Ghanaian and Nigerian roots and how the city nurtures his creativity.

A second film, featuring David Alhadeff, entrepreneur and founder of contemporary design gallery The Future Perfect, debuts globally on February 2nd.
