Production company Not Just Any has welcomed award-winning Black-British writer and director Robbie Samuels to its roster. With over two decades of experience, Samuels brings a distinct storytelling approach to the London-based studio.

A graduate of Central St Martins and Edinburgh College of Art, Samuels has built a career writing feature films and directing commercials. His recent campaign Aunt Angie earned two American Gold Advertising Awards. A former participant in the TIFF Talent Lab, his short films have been showcased at international festivals, and he was recently featured in Vanity Fair.

Samuels’ portfolio includes award-winning short films, branded content, and commercials for global brands such as Ford, Discovery Channel, TNT Sports, and Legal & General. His ability to craft compelling narratives and innovative visuals makes him a valuable addition to the company’s growing roster.

“I am so delighted and excited to welcome Robbie to the NJA family,” says executive creative director Aidan Gibbons. “His work complements our other talented NJAs perfectly. Robbie is an approachable, talented filmmaker with incredible stories. I know he’s found a new home here, we’ve already bonded over our shared love of Stanley Kubrick and Kurosawa. Welcome, Robbie!”

Samuels’ creative approach is deeply influenced by urban street culture, skateboarding, music, and hip-hop jungle, as well as his passion for graphic novels, science fiction, and cinema. These elements permeate his advertising work, adding a unique perspective to his storytelling.

Currently developing several feature films and television projects, Samuels’ arrival marks a significant moment for Not Just Any as the company continues to expand its global production footprint. His expertise and artistic vision are set to enhance NJA’s creative output, delivering stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.
