As we continue to speak to winners from this year's Young Director Award, double award-winner Paul Nevison talks us through his two film, The Fisherman and I Will Dance [below].

Both are short documentaries which tell the story of two families and the struggles through which they go. The Fisherman focuses on Meksi, a proud father and experienced fisherman, whose efforts to provide for his family are constantly thwarted by an unreliable boat engine that puts him and his family’s already precarious situation in greater jeopardy. While I Will Dance follows the story of an abandoned child, Brian, who is adopted by a woman who strives to help him overcome the health issues which he faces.

Both films are beautiful, poignant tales of family, loyalty and love and, here, Nevison discusses how he found these stories, why they appealed to him, and his eclectic film background.
