Romans and Ancient Greeks thought they were formed from falling stars, others believed they were so beautiful they were tears of the Gods.
Among the many remarkable diamond facts to be learned, the fact that they’ve been around for, like, forever – well three billion years, which is pre-dinosaurs – is possibly the coolest.
"We all know that a diamond has been around for a long time. But when we found out that diamonds [were actually] formed before there was life on earth, and that it will be here long after life on earth has gone, it blew our minds,” says Ian Heartfield, CCO at BBH London, “It was this incredible story that we let the highly talented director Ian Pons Jewell loose on."
Created for the international alliance of diamond mining companies, the Diamond Producers Association, the three minute blockbuster film from Academy director Ian Pons Jewell, is a cinematic telling of the natural diamond story – from genesis to finished jewelry. Shot in Georgia, the lavish film follows a diamond's odyssey across time and space, taking in its role as a love token and a marker of intimate life events.
