Though ‘never work with children or animals’ maybe a time-honoured maxim for film and theatre makers, little ‘uns sure do offer instant injections of cuteness.

Created by Cossette and directed by Olivier Staub through Les Enfants, this joyful film, Grimace, uses the simple casting of some cheeky nippers all pulling their scariest faces – the concept being that they will frighten off the Covid-19 virus as vaccinations for 5-11-year-olds are rolled out.

The tots’ glorious gurning is choreographed to an epic score composed by Paul-Etienne Cote.

Staub comments: “The brief for the project was to promote the vaccination of 5-11 years olds in an epic manner, without getting too dark - then the combination of epic music and extreme slow motion hit me. Suddenly, it all made sense: kids grimacing at Covid-19 to scare it away. This led to playful storytelling that conveys our message without becoming over-dramatic.”
