New York-based music house The Music Playground announce the launch of El Patio de Música, a new creative studio for original music and LATAM artist collaboration based in Mexico City.

The division will be led by veteran Creative Director and composer Fernando Dimare, who has lived and worked in Mexico City for the last fifteen years and brings both a wealth of experience and a strong network of industry relationships to the new venture. Dimare will be supported by Mexico City-based Executive Producer, Jeff Stevenson, who oversees client relations and creative partnerships for The Music Playground in both USA and LATAM territories.

The launch of El Patio de Música follows the 2022 inauguration of a new sync partnership with MUXIC, a LATAM artist collective and opportunity accelerator based in Mexico City and underwritten by the Mexican government’s Ministry of Tourism.

“We’re overjoyed to see El Patio de Música opening as our boots-on-the-ground resource for first-rate, authentic, original Latin music,” says President of The Music Playground, Sydney Ferleger.

“As both a global-minded company and a collective of music lovers, we’ve been thrilled to see a consistent increase over the last few years in requests for stylistically-specific and artistically nuanced Latin music from our clients across all mediums. It’s exciting to be able to respond to those calls now with real creative collaborations coming from a diverse range of artists, composers, performers, and industry professionals who live and work in Latin America. With both our new artist partnerships via MUXIC and our original music team at El Patio de Música, we’re well positioned to deliver comprehensive and creatively dynamic Latin music solutions to our clients.”

Creative Director Fernando Dimare added, “Latin music is not a monolith. There are so many different genres, styles, and traditions to draw from. As someone who has spent many years working in sync, I think it’s encouraging that, more than ever, audiences care about quality and artistry when it comes to music. Therefore, so do advertisers, music supervisors, and content producers. El Patio de Música is a win-win for all involved; it allows us to simultaneously enrich the creative integrity of the sync ecosystem, provide exposure opportunities for the incredible talent base here in Mexico City, and craft alive and informed music for our clients that helps them tell their stories more authentically.”

El Patio de Música represents both an expansion of The Music Playground’s creative collaborator base and a catalyst for increased integration into new and diverse client markets. “With El Patio de Música, we’re opening lots of doors within our existing USA client base,” says Executive Producer Jeff Stevenson. “But we’re also becoming a key creative partner for USAbased Hispanic market advertising agencies that we may not already be working with, international agency divisions based here in Mexico, and Spanish-language film and television clients…plus all of the production and editorial partners who service those clients. The sky's the limit!”
