Playing out more like an art installation than piece of cinema, Egg Films director Robin Adams' collaborative piece, neo (normal), uses juxtaposed imagery and an ever-evolving soundtrack to create a compelling view of the current world situation.
Drawing the talents of *deep breath* Aaron Lynch, Adam Bentel, Adi Koen, Alex Price, Anna Capraro, Blake Prinsloo, Catherine De Reuck, Devi Lazanas, Fritz Bücker, Gabriella Achadinha, Gavin Mikey Collins, Julia Schnurr, Kamogelo Mokoena, Kezia Eales, Koko Pambo, Mandy Nash, Nic Apostoli, Penny Du Plessis, Rob Wisniewski, Robin Adams, Sean Jefferis, Shamilla Miller, Sibot, Stephen Du Plessis, Tapiwa Musvosvi, Thomas Revington, Wikus Muller, Willie Saayman, the short uses montage to bring together disparate concepts in an intriguing and engaging way.
“Over the last few months of lockdown, we have all been forced to rethink process," explains Adams, "not only during this period, but as a rethink moving forward. I approached a group of talent from the film industry in South Africa, with the hope of creating an experimental short film that connects our individual experience. Each content creator was tasked with submitting a still image or video clip that encapsulated what they were experiencing during lockdown.
"The aim was to collate an expression of collective consciousness over that time. On the surface a really simple construct, this was truly an incredible experience for me.”
