Raining meteors, rampaging robot hoovers and – most amusingly – three-eyed hipster zombies demanding soya milk are just some of the fun antagonists in this celebration of the Macmillan Coffee Morning.
Conceived by AMV BBDO, produced by Blinkink and directed by Sam Gainsborough and Chris Bristow, the TV, digital, and radio campaign is the agency’s first work since winning the account and dramatises that nothing, not even a global pandemic, will stop the Macmillan Cancer Support charity's annual Coffee Morning event, which is now in its 30th year.
The film features short vignettes that become increasingly barmy as they develop and combine stock and b-roll footage, animation, claymation, graphic design, and a two-day shoot run in line with current regulations and guidance.
The Coffee Morning officially takes place on Friday 25th September 2020, but hosts can hold their events any time. This year, in response to the pandemic, the charity has adapted the popular format for the first time, with hosts able to hold a virtual event with a backdrop of baking creations, or even a socially distanced doorstep stall. With many cancer treatments having been paused due to the virus, the charity’s work is even more vital now.
