Alex has something to say. Something shocking to tell his parents.
As he nervously girds his loins for a painful confession over a swanky dinner, little does he know that Dad and Mum each have rather more interesting secrets to share.
Starring Hugo Chegwin (People Just Do Nothing) as Alex, with Felicity Montagu (Alan Partridge) and David Schaal (The Office), The Announcement is a quintessentially British film, with comedy derived from the pain of repression and the dedication of mater and pater to keeping up appearances.
Particularly when dining out in an unbearable stuffy restaurant in Belgravia.
Winner of many awards, including Best Comedy at both Montreal Independent Film Festival and Soho London Independent Film Festival, plus Best Cinematography (from DP Oliver Nice) at Atlanta Comedy Film Festival, it has been slickly produced and edited by Black Shark Media.
The script, written by Kibbey with James Mears, is brought to life by some topnotch comedy acting. Montague, in particular, plays the mother with relish, lighting up when she expands on her revelation – a habit that explains the shocking provenance of the family pet Murphy.
