Look, we don't want to proliferate the cliché that people who play video games don't have any friends, but this new campaign for EA from Mother isn't helping matters...
Created to promote Hazelight Studios' new co-op title Split Fiction, Friend Edition suggests the next-level of gaming peripheral: an bone-fide living, breathing human being who will play through with you from start to finish.
Shot through Artistry by Torbjörn Edwall, the commercial features the game's director, Josef Fares, introducing the bonkers concept through one of the most hilariously awkward unboxing vids of all time.
In response to Friend Edition, EA Chief Publishing Officer Scott Forrest stated: “They’re doing WHAT!? No, of course we didn’t sign off on this! Why on Earth would they go through the trouble of shipping when you can just join the Discord and use Friend’s Pass for free?”
