Last year, Ford announced Daniel Ricciardo as a Global Ford Racing ambassador.

In A Raptor Meets a Honey Badger, a short social film inspired by Ricciardo’s nickname, Ricciardo trades the precision of the track for the unpredictability of off-road terrain. Through daring stunts and Ricciardo’s fearless approach, the stylized film showcases both Ricciardo’s and the Ford Raptor’s unsurpassed capabilities and brings Ford’s story of performance and passion vividly to life.

Since the launch of the Ready Set Ford global brand platform, Ford is focused on creating passion vehicles, enabling next-level human capability. In that spirit, Ricciardo felt like the perfect partner, known for pushing limits and embracing every challenge. In this short film, Ricciardo shows off that spirit as he takes on a new adventure, showcasing his off-road prowess behind the wheel of the Raptor. The viewers are invited to ride shotgun with Ricciardo as he rediscovers his joy of driving.

"Ever since Season 1 of Netflix’s hit show Drive to Survive, Daniel’s been the unofficial main character of the F1 world. What you see on screen is exactly who he is when the lights go out, so we figured a traditional car ad wouldn't cut it. To capture that Honey Badger energy, we needed something as loud and grand as he is: a Raptor R, a vast desert, and ultimately letting Daniel be Daniel, living his best life at full throttle." said Dan Peters and Reef Younis.

Watch as the Honey Badger trades the grid for grit and proves that for the world’s most famous grin, the best turns are the ones you take at 100mph in the sand. The creative process behind this short film started with a single question: "What does Daniel’s internal monologue sound like now that the pressure is off?" It was soon realised it wouldn't be the sound of a pit stop; it would be something grand, sweeping, and joyful.
