ArtClass Content welcomes Kathy Fusco
Comedy director Fusco brings a rich background in writing and directing standout work across both television and branded content.
ArtClass Content announce the signing of Emmy-nominated filmmaker Kathy Fusco.
Fusco brings a rich background in writing and directing standout work across both television and branded content. She credits her early sense of humour to her scoliosis diagnosis as a teen, when the doctor presented her with a bulky plastic back brace, she knew she had no choice but to be funny. That perspective has fuelled her successful, award-winning career in comedy, which now continues with ArtClass.
Based in NYC, Kathy started as a talent intern at Saturday Night Live, where she learned valuable skills, like how to order $200 worth of Taco Bell for country music superstar Garth Brooks. Fusco then took those skills to Comedy Central, where she wrote and directed Promax award-winning campaigns for shows like South Park, Kroll Show, The Roast of Justin Bieber, and Reno 911, and won a Clio Gold for The Roast of Rob Lowe. Fusco eventually became Vice President of Brand Creative, overseeing Comedy Central’s in-house advertising team, working closely with network talent like Amy Schumer, Nick Kroll, Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer, and Eric Cartman, none of whom ever asked for an absurd amount of Taco Bell.
As a commercial director, Fusco believes that comedy thrives on nuance and prioritizes grounded performances where humor and emotion are conveyed subtly yet effectively. She has directed campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola, Verizon, Snickers, and Xfinity, featuring an impressive roster of celebrity talent, including Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers, Andy Cohen, Bowen Yang, Paul Giamatti, Awkwafina, and Mario Lopez, who starred in the Access Hollywood promo that earned her an Emmy nomination. In 2023, she directed and co-wrote her first short film, Catherine and Michael, starring Molly Ringwald, which won Best Comedy at seven festivals, including the New York Short Film Festival and Academy Award-qualifying New Hampshire Film Festival.
“I’ve been a fan of ArtClass for years,” remarks Fusco on signing. “They have an enthusiasm for this business that is infectious. I’m excited to partner with them and create some fun, smart, ridiculous work.”
Kirsten Arongino, Managing Director at ArtClass Content, adds, “Kathy brings a sharp, advertising-honed sensibility to her work, paired with a lifelong love of comedy. She has a rare instinct for what lands, what doesn’t, and how to craft the strongest film within any brief. Any brand would be lucky to collaborate with her, and we’re excited to support what she creates next.”
