Apple - Swipe

I’ve gotta say, I was swept away by Apple's Swipe. It’s probably my favourite spot of the year. It's a masterclass in storytelling and casting, far surpassing typical commercial fare – it feels more like a blockbuster film. The integration of various Apple products is seamless, blurring the lines between ad and entertainment.

The energy is infectious, leaving you on the edge of your seat and craving more. If only every commercial could be this immersive! This is the caliber of advertising that demands attention, worthy of Cannes Lions recognition.

Dove - Cost of Beauty

The Cost of Beauty authentically captures real people and emotions and is a testament to impressive casting and direction. This emotionally-charged spot doesn't just raise awareness; it aims to incite impactful change by confronting the harmful effects of social media head-on – a cause I think we can all get behind. It's a poignant reminder of the brand's commitment to empowering individuals and redefining beauty standards.

Beyond the powerful message, there’s true directorial skill shown in capturing heartfelt, authentic moments from real people. Cannes Lions, take note - this is a beautiful piece deserving of recognition.

Netflix - Farewell to DVDs

It’s a heartfelt homage to a bygone era. (How is it that DVDs feel so ancient already?!) I thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgia baked into every frame of this spot, followed by the modern day Netflix logo and the signature 'dun dun.' The sound design is clever; making use of techniques like the one used in the iconic ‘Cell Block Tango’ number in director Rob Marshall’s film Chicago. Coupled with the use of a late 90s song we all love; this cinematic gem will take you on a trip down memory lane.

Celebrating the evolution of entertainment in the digital age, it is a reflection on technological evolution and cultural shifts, delivered with finesse. With its clever use of POV shots and poignant final moment, 'Farewell to DVDs' encapsulates the bittersweet sentiment of saying goodbye to a bygone era. It's a testament to storytelling that transcends language.

Buckle up for a mind-bending journey with XBOX's Wake Up and Dream. This visually-stunning spot blurs the lines between reality and fantasy, showcasing unparalleled VFX that transports viewers to a world of limitless possibilities.

Cinematic and captivating, it's a testament to the power of creativity in advertising in a landscape saturated with mundane commercials. This level of VFX skill demands recognition, making it a frontrunner in my eyes.

Puma x Noah - Winning Streak

Redefining the term 'streaker' in a very visually comedic way, Puma x Noah's playful and irreverent Winning Streak is a breath of fresh air. With its stylish cinematography and cheeky premise (pun intended), this spot grabs attention from the get-go.

It manages to intrigue without relying on heavy-handed product placement - a testament to effective storytelling and risk-taking. Its unique style and bold approach make an immediate impact, without sacrificing brand integrity.
