Multidisciplinary filmmaker and digital visual artist Curry Tian has joined Caviar’s UK roster for commercial representation.

Working across directing, concept design, digital art, 3D and photography, Tian has developed a practice in which each discipline informs the next. Rather than treating visual effects and digital craft as tools applied in post-production, she builds worlds from the start of the creative process, creating films that combine technical innovation with cinematic storytelling.

Born in China and now based in the US, Tian first gained international recognition after winning a Student Academy Award for her experimental short film Simulacra in 2020. Since then, she has directed work for brands including Mercedes-Benz, Beats by Apple, Chanel, L’Oréal and Canon, while continuing to exhibit her work at international film festivals and galleries.

Alongside her commercial directing, Tian remains active as a digital visual artist and researcher, exploring how new technologies, digital media and human perception can shape contemporary storytelling. Her work combines live action with immersive digital environments, building visual languages that are both technically considered and emotionally led.

Tian says: “For me, technology and artistry have never been separate disciplines, they're both part of the same creative language. Whether I'm directing, creating digital artwork or developing concepts, each informs the other in the pursuit of compelling visual storytelling. Caviar has a reputation for championing bold filmmaking and creative ambition, so it feels like a natural home for this next chapter.”

Sorcha Shepherd, Managing Director at Caviar, adds: “Curry brings something genuinely distinctive to our roster. She's not simply a director who understands digital craft, she's an artist whose creative thinking spans every stage of the visual process. That multidisciplinary perspective allows her to create work that feels cinematic, contemporary and emotionally resonant, making her an exciting addition for brands looking to push visual storytelling in new directions.”

Beyond directing, Tian has spoken at design and motion conferences, served on international award juries and lectured at institutions including Parsons, SVA, MAXON, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She also conducts research into digital media and creative technologies through Harvard’s CAMLab.
