Joining Cobblestone is Gemma Lee, a writer and director hailing from Scotland, with a background in visual arts. 

She studied Drawing and Painting at the Edinburgh College of Art before moving to Australia, where she earned a Master’s in Writing and Directing from the Victorian College of the Arts. 

Known for her cinematic storytelling and meticulous attention to performance, Lee has become a sought-after director for major local and international advertising agencies and brands. Her commercial portfolio includes a diverse range of high-profile campaigns, from automotive work for Lexus, Mitsubishi, RAM, Toyota to major international projects for Dove and Coppertone. She has also directed tourism, pharmaceutical and governmental campaigns.

Throughout her commercial career, Lee has collaborated with numerous high-profile talent and led large-scale productions, recognised for their visual sophistication and emotional depth. She has also directed music videos for some of Australia’s leading artists.

Her narrative work has screened at major international festivals, including Palm Springs, Fantasia Fest, the Oscar-accredited Flickerfest, and Tribeca. Her short film The Wake, starring Angus Sampson and Gulliver McGrath, was nominated for the Jury Prize at Tribeca and won Best Film at the St Kilda Film Festival. Most recently, she wrote and directed Fizzy and Suds for the ABC and was a recipient of the Screen NSW Fast Track Initiative, which funded her latest short film Echoes in Time.

Lee now works between Europe, Australia, and the United States, and is currently in development on her debut feature film.
