Creative leader Michael Aimette has been appointed Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Creative in the US, where he will help drive the agency’s next phase of growth.

Based in New York, Aimette will lead the agency's US creative department, partnering closely with Phil Gaughran, CEO of Dentsu Creative Americas, and the broader leadership team to develop creative talent, strengthen the agency's output and support business growth for clients.

“We're at a moment when creativity matters more than ever,” says Gaughran. “Clients are navigating extraordinary complexity, but they're also looking for partners who can help them move faster, earn relevance and drive growth. Michael is the kind of leader who knows how to turn creative ambition into brand and business impact. His track record speaks for itself, but what excites me most is his ability to inspire people, unlock catalyzing ideas and help clients create enduring competitive advantage.”

Aimette joins with more than two decades of experience leading creative teams. As Chief Creative Officer of FCB New York and subsequently CCO of BBDO New York, he helped both agencies achieve recognition including Agency of the Year honours at The One Show, The Clios, ADC and Campaign, alongside Craft Agency of the Year at Cannes Lions.

“The thing that gets me most excited is the chance to build. To bring great people together, create something special and have a ton of fun doing it. And that’s what drew me to Dentsu Creative,” says Aimette. “There’s just an incredible amount of talent, a legacy of outstanding creative work globally and a whole range of capabilities that open up some really exciting possibilities. Now the fun part is bringing it all together — making creativity everybody’s business and creating the kind of work people can’t possibly ignore. I can’t wait to get going.”

Ranked the fourth most-awarded CCO in the world by The Drum in 2026 and the number one CCO in the US by The One Club, Aimette's career includes Budweiser's back-to-back USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter winners, Spotify's Spreadbeats, which earned a D&AD Black Pencil, and Michelob ULTRA's five-year run of success at The One Show, recognised with a Penta Pencil. He has also led creative for major business wins including Pringles, Hyundai, the Gates Foundation and Intuit.

His appointment comes as Dentsu Creative continues to develop its offering across creative, media, data and technology, following recent business wins including creative agency of record relationships with i-Health brands AZO, Culturelle and Estroven, Farmers Insurance, and a social agency of record appointment for Waterloo Sparkling Water.
