Blinkink has joined forces with Otherway and producer Spru Rowland to unveil From Pip to Sip, a brand-new campaign for Inch’s Cider directed by Daniel Quirke with co-direction from Sam Gainsborough.

The campaign celebrates the craft, heritage and joyful spirit of British apples, bringing together a range of animation techniques to create a visually dynamic, fast-paced film like no other.

At its heart, the campaign positions Inch’s cider at the heart of modern British drinking occasions, highlighting the joy and diversity of everyday moments. At the same time, it tells the story of Inch’s in a playful and visually engaging way, sometimes right on a pint glass.

The campaign itself was a brilliant collaboration of minds between Quirke and Gainsborough. Together, the pair expertly blend multiple animation styles with live-action and stop-motion techniques to achieve a handcrafted, tactile feel. Quirke also explored the unique limitations of cider and beer glass printing techniques, embracing slight imperfections and registration ‘errors’ as a design opportunity to enhance the craft aesthetic.

"We wanted the pints of cider to feel like they were captured in genuine moments, rather than staged, perfect pints, and using the glasses as stop-motion elements on location helped give them a real, tactile feel," says Quirke. "It was a pretty technical, fast-paced shoot, with a lot of testing beforehand to get everything to line up once we brought the animation onto the glass, but that’s the kind of stuff I find fun!"

Fast-paced match-cutting, energetic transitions and time-lapse sequences merge to create a film that’s punchy and engaging, while bold, wide-angle live-action shots hero the cider, capturing every detail, from the fizz of bubbles to the frost on the glass - bringing a sense of refreshment to every scene.

What results is a film that pushes the boundaries of animation, mixing 2D design, live-action and stop-frame techniques to create a seamless, celebratory journey from orchard to pint. A true testament to craft, creativity, and the distinctive charm of Inch’s Cider.
