Joni Hartikainen joins Directors Guild Helsinki as Head of Productions, strengthening the company’s production leadership and bringing a deeper understanding of client needs into the heart of its production processes.

Joining from PHS BBDO, where he worked as a Creative Producer, Hartikainen brings extensive knowledge of the commercial production industry.

With over a decade of experience in commercial film production and a strong background in the production departments of agencies including hasan & partners and TBWA\Helsinki, Hartikainen has developed a deep understanding of client needs, agency operations and what it takes to turn ambitious creative ideas into successful productions. His long-standing client relationships include Kesko, one of Finland’s largest retail groups.

“Brands have a massive and constant need for content. A production partner needs to see beyond individual projects and be able to manage the bigger picture. Understanding the client must be reflected in how productions are led, where resources are invested and how our ways of working evolve. Joni brings exactly the kind of expertise we need to take this further,” says Juha-Matti Nieminen, CEO of Directors Guild Helsinki.

Hartikainen will focus on strengthening Directors Guild Helsinki’s production processes and ensuring that creative ambition and seamless execution work together to deliver on client objectives. His extensive experience in agency-side production also brings valuable continuity across projects, turning the learnings from each production into an advantage for the next.

Hartikainen’s production credits include The AI Abyss for the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, which received three awards at the Finnish Voitto Advertising Awards. His client portfolio also includes Valio, Lumo, LähiTapiola and Rastor Institute.

“Great production starts with a shared understanding of what we are creating and why. From there, our job is to give the people behind the work the best possible conditions to succeed. Directors Guild Helsinki has a strong vision for impactful content and uncompromising quality. I’m excited to help develop the processes that turn that ambition into reality, in every single production,” says Hartikainen.

Hartikainen’s appointment supports Directors Guild Group’s continued growth into a comprehensive content partner, serving clients across a broader range of needs with greater efficiency. Strong production leadership brings together the Group’s expertise and resources, turning them into content that delivers even greater impact.
